For adult brands and their agencies

Adult outreach to real publishers

Adult outreach is the slow part of link building: finding the people who might cover you, and giving each of them a reason to. Editors receive a flood of identical requests, and adult brands start with a disadvantage. We qualify every prospect first, write every pitch for one reader, follow up once, and record the lot.

How a campaign runs

Six steps, in order. Outreach often goes wrong at step two: contacting sites that should never have been on the list. The standard we qualify against is set out on adult link building.

  1. Find

    Prospect

Sites and people who already cover your topic, from trade press to independent writers and podcasts.

  2. Check

    Qualify

Each prospect goes through the five quality checks. Failures are logged, not contacted.

  3. Read

    Research

Read what they have published recently, so the pitch fits their readers and style.

  4. Write

    Pitch

One idea, for one publication, in a few short paragraphs, from a real person.

  5. Once

    Follow up

A single polite follow-up after a week. After that, we stop.

  6. Log

    Record

Every contact, reply and outcome goes in your placement ledger.

What editors say yes to

An editor's question is always the same: is this good for my readers? Pitches that answer it get read. Everything else looks like one more request for a link.

Gets a reply

  • An idea their readers would want even without the link
  • Data or expertise they cannot easily get elsewhere
  • A pitch that shows you have read their site
  • Clear, honest terms if anything is paid
  • Making their job easier: ready facts, sources and images they may use

Gets ignored or blocked

  • "Write for us" requests sent to every site
  • Flattering openers copied from a template
  • Keyword-stuffed articles offered with the link already placed
  • Pretending to be a journalist or a reader
  • Chasing three or four times after no reply

Our research on adult publisher outreach covers how to find publishers willing to work with adult brands.

UK email rules for outreach

Outreach emails that promote a business can count as direct marketing. In the UK, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) treat companies differently from individuals. Emailing a company does not generally need prior consent, but every message must identify the sender and give a way to opt out.

Sole traders and some partnerships are treated as individuals, not companies. Many independent bloggers and podcasters fall into that group, so we approach them through the contact routes they publish, keep messages about editorial ideas rather than sales, and add anyone who asks to a do-not-contact list that applies to every future campaign.

The Outreach package

For a single adult site building authority from a low base: qualified prospects, personal pitches and a full record of every contact. Sites in competitive niches usually need the Authority package, which adds linkable assets and more placements.

When outreach leads to an article, how guest content is handled is set out on adult guest posts. Prices for every package are on the pricing page.

Outreach questions

Tell us which markets you target in your audit request.

Q. How many sites do you contact each month?

A. Fewer than bulk services, on purpose. Every prospect passes our quality checks before it is contacted, and every pitch is written for that publication. Numbers are agreed in your plan and reported in full.

Q. Do you use templates?

A. We use a structure, not a template. Each pitch explains why this idea suits this publication and its readers. Mass templates are how outreach gets ignored and domains get blocked.

Q. Is cold outreach legal in the UK?

A. Emailing companies about business matters is generally allowed under PECR, provided you identify yourself and offer an opt-out. Sole traders are treated as individuals, so we are more careful with independent bloggers and always honour a request not to be contacted.

Q. Who does the outreach come from?

A. From our team, or from your brand if you prefer, using a real name and an address that can receive replies. We never pose as journalists or hide who we represent.
